Simon,
That's what I thought too, that only the OLY would score points for the club, so I looked it up. Do you know, was this only the case for 2009?

Club Nationals Scoring Criteria
These events will score towards Club Nationals:
Full Distance
Half Distance (General Entry)
USAT Long Course Nationals Half Distance (Halfmax Qualifiers Only)
Aquabike Half
Aquabike Full
Sprint Distance
Olympic Distance
Aquabike Half
Aquabike Full
Really?? Ummm... Karen, very interesting! Thanks for looking it up!
The link that Karen posted (from the USAT guidelines) state:
III. EVENT DISTANCE
The National Club Championship shall be contested at the International distance (approximately 1500m swim, 40k bike, and 10k run) and, if the selected event has one, the sprint distance (approximately 750m swim, 20k bike, and 5k run). Distances may be approximate, so long as they fall within the range for each distance designation.
Other distances may be added depending on the race venue.
Scoring Criteria
So, it looks like 9but just guessing) the Oly, Sprint, Half Iron and probably Half Ironman Aquabike will be included in scoring points. I don't see that there is a max amount of points for each participant (like there is in the Regional Championship) and we also get an additional 15 points for travel for each participant. It does specifically mention that relays do NOT count, but I'm not sure about Clydesdales and Athenas.
Is there someone on the board who could contact USAT and find out the official word before the race is sold out so we can decide which race to register for/if we'd score points in the Half?
You guys like how I pawned that off on you?

I'll shoot Cory an email to try to get clarification.
Thanks because
I plan my season assuming that the only way to get points was on the olympic race .
Thanks
Eric
Wendy Peel maybe the person to contact...which I will do. I thought they claimed it would count at Redman but it was a little disorganized. From what I understand this event actually marks a change in how USAT does things as their Championship events are no longer being done at other races but essentially are becomming events themselves.
AquaBike might count? What about the AquaRun? I'd open up a can of whoop a** on that category.
Btw, when is this race anyway?
The RD responded that ALL 3 races will count (sprint, Oly and half). I sent the email to him and the USAT Club rep and she was cced in the response so I would take that to be accurate.
Wow that is really awesome. Our sprint and half participants scoring points will really give us an advantage. Which one to do now? Hmm
I'm all signed up for the 1/2. Woot!
Happy New Year!
Tania.
