I got an e-mail message from Ironman.com about new gear bags. There is one for Tri clubs with a pull down menu that lists a bunch of clubs and you can order a bag with your very own Tri club logo on it. But there is no DCTri.
Here's a link:
Hi Dave -
The board was actually evaluating this with WTC but we opted to not participate in the program because we sell our own branded gear. You may not be aware of this but our club relies heavily on what small incremental revenue we can generate from our own gear sales. This allows us to provide various benefits and services to our members (it's not cheap running a club with 1300+ members)!
We felt that this co-branding program that WTC is offering is a gateway into more ways for WTC to make money off of our club brand without any real benefits for our club. Our club name/brand has real value! If WTC was offering a partnership from this such as a discount for our club members or an incentive program for the club to get a small percentage per sale that we could put back into the club to bring our members more benefits then we would consider it.
I'm sorry this is not the answer you were looking for but we debated this topic amongst the board and came to this conclusion.
Thanks for the information -- it is good to know that it was the club's decision and not that we were overlooked. Its too bad that they are not sharing the profits with the club, but not a big surprise.
