The Ride of Silence will take place next Wednesday, May 16 at 7:00 pm all across the world. One day, one time, worldwide.
The Washington, DC ride will begin and end at the southeast parking lot of Hains Point. It is a slow, silent ride, welcome to people of all abilities. The DC ride is about a 10 mile loop through the downtown area.
The Ride of Silence is a free ride, hosted in cities worldwide, that aims to inform motorists, police and city officials that cyclists have a legal right to the public roadways. The ride is to honor those who have been killed or injured, to raise awareness that we are here, and to ask that we all share the road.
I will be riding in my hometown in MI near where my dad's accident took place for this year's ROS. Last year when I rode the ROS in DC I had no clue how near and dear it would be in my life. If you have some free time Wednesday evening it would be great to have some DC Tri representation at the ROS.
Let the silence roar.
Very timely event, sadly:
