Open-Water Swim, Sat., Aug. 18

"This is late-breaking notice, but the weeds have been cut and we have a morning high tide, so conditions are excellent for a 90 minute open water practice at Gunston Manor this Saturday morning, August 18. Here are the details - come on out for a fun, challenging workout if you can!

CUBU Masters is hosting an open water practice from 9-1030 am at our summertime training venue, Gunston Manor in Lorton, VA. Cost is $15 to cover the homeowners community fee and all other course planning, arrangements and safety provisions. You must be USMS or USAT registered to participate. You can do this on-line for either organization.

All levels are welcome, provided you can comfortably swim 500 M of any stroke (one loop around the course).

All participants should plan on arriving by 0830 to register and check in. You can pay by cash or check (CUBU Masters). Wetsuits are optional, though the water should be a comfortable 82 - 83 degrees.

Directions: Gunston Manor is a private community and the address to put into your GPS to locate the start of our swim is 5925 Kentia Trail, Lorton, VA 22079. This neighborhood is about two miles past the entrance to Pohick Bay Regional Park. From 95N, take Exit 161 for Route 1 North. Go about 1.5 miles to the first stop light where you turn right onto Gunston Road. Pohick Bay Regional Park is about 4 miles down on the left hand side, and another two miles on the left hand side is the entrance to Gunston Manor. About half a mile in, on the righ hand side is the club house and parking area, and you will be directed to the beach from there.

For any questions or additional details, please contact Frank Marcinkowski at, or at 703-582-0429.
Curl-Burke Masters"
