DPR press release
The National Park Service (NPS) has notified DPR of urgent work that must be performed on the plumbing and sewage system serving the East Potomac area. The East Potomac pool, the adjacent golf building, and the park police headquarters are all impacted by this work and, as a result, the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) is required to close the East Potomac Pool, located at 900 Ohio Drive, SW.
An update advisory will be released when NPS has resolved the issue.
anyone hear anything about the pool? they haven't updated the website...
The masters team I swim with already rescheduled practice from HP to Wilson for tomorrow afternoon, and we are a maybe for Saturday morning, so my guess is that the soonest it could be open would be Friday.
The recorded message on the Hains Point pool phone line says that the pool will be open again starting today (Friday).
So the pool is now open?
I swam there on Friday afternoon.
Heard from several sources at the Hains pool yesterday that it will stay open until October 17. Swimming outdoors into the fall would be sweet.
Weekday hours have changed. Now 4 pm to 7 pm.
(Mayor Fenty apparently often swam weekdays from noon to 3:45 PM, until incoming administration recommended these new hours. :) )
