If someone needs a ride, I'm planning on driving up that morning from SW DC.
I'll also offer a ride - I'm driving up from South Arlington. Will, if neither of us finds passengers, maybe we can figure out a place to meet?
I'd like a ride to the race and post-brunch. I live on the Hill off of 295. Any room in your cars?
I'd also be up for carpooling - I'm coming from southern NoVA and can meet anywhere.
BTW, the shirts are great - nice material & even a zip pocket!
zip pocket? did we get the same shirt?
black brooks podium jersey? I don't see a zip pocket. :(
yep, same one (except I'm assuming that you didn't get the women's size). The pocket it hidden in the right side seam - if you have it, you'll see by turning it inside out.
I can swing by the Hill for anyone, but you gotta let me know early in the week. Got room for three peeps, LisalisaDC you got first dibs, so anyone else let me know. My email is good until the Kona meeting. racedirector at dctriclub.org
Brunch is still on at Hon Cafe following the Celtic Solstice Run.
Unfortunately, we aren't able to reserve any tables.
The good news is that if someone bolts over there straight after the race, we can put a big group on the list.
The past few years I've basically crossed the finish line running and kept on going to my car drove straight to Hon Cafe. If you don't wait around much after the race the line isn't bad at all. I'll do the same this year and get us some tables.
Please RSVP to Angela if you plan to go to brunch and we'll get someone over there early to place our name on the list.
Hugh - thanks for the offer for a ride. I'm going to carpool with the Freak's better half. Who's wearing a skirt/kilt this year? It's going to be freezing as usual.
The ladies and germs got different premium shirts this year. Found this on the active.com registration page:
Women's Breakaway Longsleeve Brooks Premium:
This luxurious brushed polyester works perfectly with ten mile runs, workouts at the gym, or daily treks through town. We selected this as a complement to the 2008 mid-layer 1/2 zip and the 2007 outer layer jacket. You can wear this on its own on cool days, or as a base-layer on really cold days. Suggested retail is $52
Men's Podium Longsleeve:
This high-quality pullover with moisture wicking fabric and flat-seam construction is one of the most popular Brooks offerings for a cold-weather baselayer running shirt. Lightweight and breathable, it functions as a stand alone running shirt in moderate weather as well.
Do they make snowshoes to run in for Saturday?
So I've received 18 RSVPs for brunch. Not sure if the snow will scare any off but I still plan on going. Who ever gets to Cafe Hon first, please put our name on the list for 18 people. I'll update if I get any cancelations.
I will still be there. I'm going up tonight and crashing at a friend's place who is 2 blocks from the race site. :)
So I'm still running whether it's the Celtic Solstice 5 miler or the "cross country fun run on the grassy areas within the park."
That means I'm still up for brunch.
I'm still planning to go up - need to pick up my schwag if nothing else! :-D
In prep for tomorrow, some info on running in snowshoes (look at the comments) from a friend's blog.
Oh please someone try and run the race tomorrow in showshoes and a kilt...I'll need a chuckle to get me going!
There probably will be. Last year there was a guy in just shorts and shoes and it was not much warmer than it is now.
Don't forget to bring some dry clothes for after the race.
Thanks mom! :)
This sounds like fun! Dang I really need to start reading these forums more often. Good luck everyone! I hope the meeting is still on tomorrow and the snow doesn't scare people away!! I think everyone should just run, ski, snow mobile or bus there. ;) Oh wait, this isn't Iowa...probably no snowmobiles here!
