NTP training rides

It was nice to meet some of you on Thursday and this morning. In order to help each other with training, is anyone interested in creating a weekly bike ride group on Saturday mornings? We can start with Hains Point and branch out to other locations next month. How about Saturday, March 21 at 9am?

I'd be interested! Is there a specific meeting point at Hains Point that we can join up at?

Let's do the golf course parking lot. When you enter, there are two lots, one left and one right. Let's meet in the left lot, all the way in the back against the fence. I'll make a sign.

I"m interested - scheduled to be on work travel through Saturday, but hoping I get to come home early and be there this week. if not, count me in for the next.

Hi John-- I was traveling unexpectedly this week, but I hope to meet everyone at the meetings to come! I think a Saturday bike ride is a great idea. A warning, though, that the National Marathon is on Saturday. I don't know the route well enough to say if it will affect Hains Point, but it will definitely affect movement getting there.

I also missed the meetings due to work travel, but will try to make the Thursday bike class and HH this week. I am looking forward to meeting the group.

How far were people thinking of riding this Saturday? I can ride for a hour. I will try to keep future Saturday mornings free.

Here's the road closures for Saturday's race: http://www.nationalmarathon.com/images2009/images/AccessRoads09.jpg

Depending on where you're coming from it does look like it could be a problem for some drivers to get to Hains Point. Would it be feasible to move Saturday's bike ride to later in the afternoon after the marathon, or perhaps to Sunday AM instead, just for this weekend? Then in the future we could meet regularly on Saturday AMs for the Hains Point bike ride.

Meeting after the marathon is a good idea. How about 2pm? It might be good this early in the spring to let it warm up a bit too.

Shay,
If you don't get your bike before Saturday, I've a couple mountain bikes if you want to ride with one of them -- I'm on the tall side so as long as your not more than 6ft you're good

Great, that works! I'm around 5-10 so shouldn't be a problem. Looking forward to it.

Great. The more the merrier.
I'm going to bring my running shoes and try the 10 minute run (as it says for Sunday). Anyone else care to join?
