About Crystal City
Crystal City is the place to be to Get Fit, Get Health, and Get Green this spring! As part of Crystal City's Green Scene, the Crystal City BID and key sponsors are providing a fun, health, and green place to hang on Friday evenings!
About 5K Fridays
For five consecutive Fridays starting on April 2nd, test your abilities, race against your friends or yourself, or just have fun getting Fit with 5K Fridays! Runners can sign up for a single race for $15 or sign up for all five for $50 and save! All racers will be professionally timed.
5K Fridays utilizes the IPICO timing system. If you are registered for multiple races or the entire series, you are encouraged to reuse your bib and timing tag. At the end of the series, you can recycle your tag at the finish line or at any Pacers Running Store.
Scoring & Results
Results will be posted online after 9pm the evening of the event. Cumulative results will be maintained. At this time, there are no age group or overall prizes or results.
Packet Pick Up & Late Registration
Participants may pick up their packets starting at 5:30pm in the courtyard at 2121 Crystal Drive near the start/finish. Late registrations are accepted.
Win a Bike from Revolution Cycles City Hub!
The more times you run the more chances you have to win a bike from Revolution Cycles. You must be timed to be entered into the raffle (so be sure to wear your timing chip!)
The sponsors for 5k Fridays have made it easy to run the race, get cleaned up and then grab a bite to eat, a drink, and have some fun! Vornado/Charles E. Smith will be donating use of the start and finish as well as portions of the 5k route. Also, the newest luxury apartment building in Crystal City, 220 20th Street, developer and owner Vornado/Charles E. Smith will be providing free water bottles to all racers.
Post Race Showers
After the race, get freshened up at the shower facilities courtesy of Crystal Park Sport + Health, located conveniently adjacent to the finish line!
Post Race Party
Join Crystal City for the a post-race party with entertainment and post-race refreshments courtesy of VitaCoco, Peroni, and PowerAde.
Drop your bag at Revolution Cycle's City Hub (220 20th Street) located just steps from the start/finish line. Must pick up prior to store closing.
I'll be there, volunteering at registration! Registration closes at 6:15 p.m. But, I accept bribes.
see everyone out there,
Lot of folks from our club have been there. In for more fun.
I'll be there cheering instead of running.
In for a leisurely jog...
I'll be there, at the head of the pack... wait, that's only in my pre-race visualization (and in my dreams). Look for me somewhere in the middle of the pack. I'm still hoping to set a PR though.
nice meeting you Carol! see you at tomorrow's du and the THREE in a row 5Ks...oh wait, we will get 12 hours rest after tonights 5K!
I ended up in an exact tie with another DC Tri'er, to the second. I saw Ed walking around after the race. And I managed to set a 5K PR, almost a full minute off of my best time from last year.
I also learned that I am 90 years old. That's what it says on the official results page. Funny. I don't feel a day over 88.
Who's doing tonight's event?
I'll be running again!
Can't make it this week because of work duties. Looking forward to it next week.
I'm resting up for the GW Parkway Classic 10 Miler on Sunday, but I should be able to run in the last 5K next week.
Good luck to everyone tonight, including those in the red dresses.
I'm back in this week.
Plus I'm gunning for a win in the bike raffle. Yeah, I know it's a hybrid but that would come in handy for commuting by bike. No way would I lock up my tri bike in a bike rack.
Good luck to you, Potomactriathlete2009, I sure hope you win that bike so you can commute to work and not have to lock up your tri bike in a bike rack.
I'm running tonight. Looks like a hot one.
I'm there....last one!
Hard to pass up sunny, warm, a big, rising moon.
Yep, should be fun...and HOT out! So far my track listserv says 6 or so others are coming from there too and we will be sure to take over the banquet hall room at Kora for dinner after! Sadly I can't stay long -- must rest for an early morning bike on sat but definitely looking forward to a little bit of camaraderie!
