I've always wanted to do a Polar Bear Plunge and there's one in Annnapolis on Saturday, January 23rd. I know that's the same day as a HIP nutrition clinic, but is anyone else out there crazy enough to do this with me?
No - I have been dreaming of warmer climates:
Whatever you do - don't play the video.
Hello Sane People!
On January 23rd, I'll be jumping into the icy Chesapeake Bay for two really good causes: my 36th birthday and the fight against global warming.
Yup, you read that right. I'll be plunging right into the water near Annapolis with hundreds of other crazy folks in the 5th Annual Polar Bear Plunge. The event, organized by the Chesapeake Climate Action Network (CCAN), is meant to raise awareness about the growing crisis of global warming -- especially the number 350 (as in 350 parts per million, which scientists say is the safe upper limit for carbon dioxide in the atmosphere).
So here's the deal: I'll agree to get wet and cold if you'll agree to sponsor me. By making a pledge to support my playful suffering, you'll help CCAN protect our climate. Althought this year's theme is 350 and the suggested fundraising goal is $350, I'm unilaterally changing the theme/goal to $360 to fit my 36th birthday. I'm hoping to get 36 of my friends and family to each donate $36. While I brave the forecasted 36 degree temperatures, you can remain in your heated homes, warmed by the knowledge that you have made a tax-deductible charitable contribution and made me suffer in the process. It's a win-freeze situation for all.
Your insane and soon to be frozen friend,

i'll do it. i need a ride though.
