Bike rack for a Pontiac vibe
POSTED: 5/04/09 9:39 AM

I need to get a bike rack for my car, but I don't want to install a roof rack. Does anyone have suggestions for a good (not too expensive) rack for a Pontiac Vibe - it's a little hatchback thing, so I don't have a trunk or a hitch.

Thanks
Lara

Lara,

I had a Pontiac Vibe. I used the Saris Bone 3, then I got the Thule, I think it's the 969 troughway.

I have not had a Pontiac Vibe. I have the Yakima King Joe 3 for two years now and think it is great. Someone with a hatchback borrowed it last year and it worked out well for them. I've made it from here to Michigan a couple of times, once with a ridiculously heavy mountain bike, with no problems. The bikes always seem very secure. The website is here: http://www.yakima.com/product/8002620/kingjoe-3.aspx and no, I didn't pay the MSRP of $155 for it. They have a 2 bike version also.

I was the person that borrowed Ryan's rack to use on my Matrix last year when we needed to travel with more than 2 bikes (roof rack only has 2 mounts). The Matrix is essentially the same as a Vibe...It was fine, but took a little bit of creativity to get it on.
