It is on June 21 in DC. They have 2 events
Spint and olympic.
My wfie and I are both doing the olympic.
This is our first year of doing tri's and we love them.
But of course, local race, swim in the Potomac - what could be better (I overcame the pricey entry fee). C U there.
I'm in for the sprint. I didn't feel any compulsion to pony up the extra $$$ for the oly, just happy to have another race I can ride home from! If they had made the oly bike a single loop I may have reconsidered.
Me! I'm a NTP and will take this sprint as my "warm-up" for the NJ Oly... I hope not to drown in the Potomac.
Are wetsuits allowed in this one?
Wetsuits will definitely be allowed.
I'm doin the olympic. excited for a great race!
Also an NTPer here and doing the sprint. How about dry suits in the Potomac? ;)
I'm on the Dextro Sprint Warm Up Plan for NTPers too.
i'm in NTP and am doing the sprint for this one.
Wish we could do peletons and draft like the ITU pros. That would be so fun. In for an easy Oly.
Technically, you can draft, just expect to have your finish time altered in 2 minute increments by your friends on the motorcycles :)
That could be a race within a race, see who can rack up the most penalties without being disqualified.
Just kidding. And maybe I'm a little jealous because I'm so slow the only people I can keep up with are in the 70+ AG.
I'm in for the sprint distance. It's going to be so much fun!
I'm doing the Oly, have a couple friends (non DC Tri) joining me.
I'm in for the Oly. My first of the season. My first on a road bike. >:)
I'm doing the sprint distance. Should be fun - I've never done a sprint distance before!
Crossing fingers for good weather and no rain in the days before the race!
I am in for the sprint. I may be way off and just not paying attention, but it seems to me that the Dextro Energy Triathlon has really kind of slipped under the radar. For a good race, right in our back yard, I thought there would be scores of DC Tri folks in the race. Am I missing something?
I think in general that the race has fallen under the radar. I'm really surprised the race (both the sprint and Olympic) haven't sold out. The race is only 12 days away...
I think maybe that's because it was announced kind of late and most people had already set up their tri schedule for the year. Who knows...
But as for it falling under the radar of DCTri folk, I don't know. I thought Travis mentioned somewhere that there were 150 DCTri folk competing in the race. That's a good tally. :)
In for the Oly!
A. Most people want to have children so they don't want to swim in the Potomac
B. Most of the NTPers have dedicated their season to NJ
C. This is an expensive race when compared to other races in the area that one can drive to
D. This race was announced late so like Bryan said, people have already budgeted for other races
E. It's a week after Eagleman and many folks are doing that
F. HIPsters have their season/finances dedicated to one of a handful of IM 70.3 races
G. There are quite a few folks doing full IM race either on the same weekend or several weeks after this so this is their taper time (i.e., IMCDA, IMLP, IM in Europe).
H. Many people are signed up for Nations. This is almost the exact same venue so why do essentially the same race within a few months of each other while there are other options out there
I. June is about the month when all those who are training for a full IM (FL/AZ/Cozumel/etc) later in the fall begin their training program. These folks tend to stick to their training programs quite religiously and if it does not call for a sprint/oly race, it does not go on the calendar
J. Some people would rather do the club championship in NE
K. The economy
L. High school graduations are going on
M. See A.
