The club tent is venerable and visually distinctive. But at New Jersey, given the large number of attendees and huge growth in the club, it seemed small for its purpose. Especially on a hot day for providing shade to those coming off a scorching run course.
Like the Republicans, Democrats, and Independents (this being a tripartisan message), does the club need a bigger tent?
Good idea, Ed! Actually, we talked about a second tent so we could have two at the big events or just one at some venues. Bigger isn't always better, but two would be nice.
Good point, Ed. Yes, DC Tri needs a bigger tent or a 2nd tent. We also need some more people to store it, put it up, and break it down. I also vote for those flags that look like windsurfing sails. This website says they are only $169 and up. http://www.bannershapes.com/ I would volunteer to store 1 flag/sail. Could we get some DC Tri sails before Nation's Tri?
Also, please bring more chairs and food. Sandy & Julia brought a nice, small selection of goodies to NJ Tri. I noticed that other tri clubs have grills, tables, catered food, etc.
I think this would be more appropriate for the club...just my opinion though... :)
If we got Andy's tent, I'm not sure I would ever actually do a race!
I've looked into Moon Bounces and the like...Not a bad investment for $600-700. My friend Frank has one -- we can rent it to test it out! They're great for warming up.
Ed, you must have been watching Jaws. Is this where you got your motivation from?
A moon bounce? Where the heck are u gonna store that thing? I'd be up for one of those portable slides.
If the club gets a moon bounce I will store it in my backyard. Just be warned that it will be used daily (could that be considered cross-training? I mean that is a fully body workout).
Yeah.. we can sell this to other race directors, as that we need next to our tent, because it is part of the plyometric warm up that we have created to allow us to perform better. And if that doesn't work, tell them they can come and play in the bouncer after the race.
Frager's Just Ask Rental on Capitol Hill 202-543-0100 rents MoonBounces, dunk tanks, tents, chair and tables among other items.
I want a club dunk tank. OWNED, not RENTED.
