Who braved the registration nightmare and got in?
I'm in... thanks to the help of my eight member registration team. It'll be my first one!!!
Congratulations to everyone just for getting IN!!
In......as a sherpa.
Grrrr I didn't get in. I swear I wasn't going to pay a penny over 575 for IM which I think is over-priced as it is buttttttt raising 575 in DC is pretty easy. Sleeping on it but very likely biting the bullet for the charity slot (ugh). Ya'll best be donating $10 to my cause..."cause Ryan needs to man up and become and ironman"
Ryan, St. George is still open, and still $575. Overall times aren't that much higher than IMWI. Rolling from B2B into IMSG could work out pretty well.
I am in.
Ryan - don't listen to Ihan. St. George is just crazy talk. He must be on some sort of post-Ironman high (congrats, Ihan!). Go the community slot route for IMWI. Raising money for a good cause is a great motivator. I'm thinking of fundraising anyway for that very reason - maybe something in honor of the 10th anniversary of 9/11. Like I said yesterday, your first donation is on me.
SWC is IN!
Ryan, maybe you could raise money for Paralyzed Veterans of America? Club member/off-season Conte's spin nazi instructor Andy MacDonald could give you all PVA info. Seems like a worthy cause on the 10th anniversary of 9/11.
If Sandy is your first donor, count me in as your second.
Congratulations to everyone who registered for Wisconsin and other IMs for next year. I just wanted to put a plug in for the Janus Charity Challenge if you decide to fundraise. The challenge assists athletes in fundraising for any non-profit charity (registered as 501(c)) of the athlete's choice with a fundraising page and web donation service. The people at Janus are really great and will take the time to help if you need them (sometimes I found them more helpful than the people at my charity!). Plus, Janus makes additional donations based on the amount you raise and your place in the contest - among all athletes who fundraise for JCC at each race. Many DC Tri athletes have worked with Janus for Mdot races. Janus athletes also get low bib numbers (ie rack near T1 exit) and race kit for participating.
