The Terrapin Masters are hosting this annual event on the 31st. It's from 10am to 2pm at the University of MD. You can swim 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 x 2011 yards. I plan to get in the largest set possible. Next week I'll post one or two of the workouts.
Here is the copy and paste link.
Okay, I found the workout that I plan to do for this Friday.
2,000 1000 warm up
2,000 500 swim/500 swim with fins
500 pull/500 pull with paddles
2,000 4 x 250
8 x 125 #1-4 free; #5-8 IM style
2,000 10 x 100 (#5 and 10 = IM)
20 x 50 (every 5th one= broken IM)
2,000 Pyramid 50-100-150-200-250-250-200-150-100-50
500 kick cool down
Have fun with it!!!
Are Hugh training just for the Bay Swim, or the English Channel?
Sounds like a fun sports weekend, what with the annual Hains Pt. New Year's ride, and a 5K in Reston, also the 4 mile run in Fairfax City on New Year's eve.
2,000 meters does not sound like the offseason to me. That's the Vertical Swimmer peak IM volume workout right there. It takes me about six months to build up to something like that.
Training for something? I did a similar workout two years ago, now I just want to see if I can do it again. And don't forget the Military Bowl on Wednesday to add to the fun sports around town.
Tuan, I'm doing 5 x 2000, not just one set.
Hugh, I'm in and I'm aiming for 10,000 as well (though might make up different sets). You starting at 10AM?
Steph, I just sent in my registration and I would like to start around 10:15-ish. I've been slacking a bit so I really need this yardage.
You can register online.
Send preferred starting time, your approximate pace for a 100-yard swim, and the yardage you plan to swim to:

Visitors were impressed by big gleaming natatorium. Locals were impressed by number of DCTers on hand, including Hillary O.
Awesome swim out there today! Great to see a few DCTers too! Only was able to get in 9,500 meters due to time. Plus, Steph put the hurt on me for a few thousand.
