Just signed up for Chicago in 2014 to take advantage of the discount....which is immediately negated by the fact USAT makes you renew your membership. That is kind of bogus mine was good until the end of march 2014 but since it expires before the race you have to renew.
Nice. I'm in too. Renewed my USAT membership this year till 2016 so one less thing to see in my cart for a while. This is going to be fun!
Just signed up. My sister lives there so an easy excuse to head north.
A scheduling note for the cyclists out there -- the traditional date for the Garrett County Gran Fondo is the weekend before, and the traditional date for Total 200 is the weekend after.
I am also in. I visited Chicago last week after Nationals in Milwaukee. One day was lovely along the prospective course, but the next day had killer winds and white caps in the lake. Bring on the fun!
Is the club hoping to tri to get discounts for bike shipping to Chi as it did for ITU San Diego a couple of years ago? Thanks.
Don't count on free bike shipping. We're working on a deal that would cost much less than tri bike transport. No promises but things look/sound promising but don't be upset if nothing comes through. It hasn't been secured yet. Either way, roll the dice. I think it's worth saving the $30 on reg today as this is going to be a great time that you won't want to miss!
In like Finn!
You people...aghhhh. I can't walk and now I have to sign-up for another race?
Signed up! Will work on getting my sister's golden retriever outfitted in DC Tri gear so he can be an official club mascot :) He got some practice cheering at Nationals in Milwaukee.
Gonna have to travel with that Tri bike again, all to justify the purchase of a torque wrench.
In as well. Should we plan on booking accommodation soon?
I'm registered! Chicago is "Windy City" but no matter what, we'll have a blast like we did in San Diego. I reserved a room at the Wyndham Blake Chicago hotel, about 0.7 mile from the venue, just in case I don't find another place to stay. They only had 9 rooms available when I checked. They don't charge your credit card right away if you reserve through the ITU website and you can cancel up to 30 days before without a fee, so it might be a good idea to make a reservation now. I plan to arrive on Friday and leave on Monday - I want to stay on Sunday to watch the elite races.
In. Looking forward to hearing more about a possible discount transport option.
Fun fun fun fun.
I'm in process of booking accommodation for the race. Anyone interested in sharing a double room?
The Congressional Plaza has double rooms at an early bird price of $155/night until October 31st.
If anyone has already booked and is looking for someone to share the cost, let me know.
**Update from the Board**
We have received a bike transport proposal from USAT this week and we're meeting with their leadership team tomorrow to discuss. We'll be announcing a bike shipping deal as soon as next week to and from Chicago!
