Strength training recommendations? (Say gyms/classes)
POSTED: 9/26/12 8:06 AM

Hey folks:

Does anyone have any recommendations on strength training/conditioning? I'm specifically looking for classes (maybe at a local university) that one can sign up without being tied to a gym.

Thanks in advance.

My wim coach swears by the PX90 dvds - I just don't have the patience so I go to a gym class.

If you don't want to be tied to a gym, look for Groupon or LivingSocial deals for gyms (currently one for Gold's Gym) or boot camp style workouts.

Or scour craigslist for a pair of dumbbells and/or P90x dvds and workout at home.

I loved taking classes at Stroga in Adams Morgan - it's like a modified cross fit class but you can just buy a pass instead of being tied into a monthly fee. They pop onto Groupon or Livingsocial every quarter, if you want to try them out on the cheap.

Pacers in Logan Circle offers free cross-training classes on Wednesdays at 7 PM (Mondays at 7 PM at their Alexandria location). --Katie

Thanks everyone. I think P90X may be the way to go for me (at least for the time being).
