Wondering if anyone incorporates cap bikeshare jaunts and/or bike commuting in your training plan? Anything you do to make it a workout or training activity?
Best I've come up with is sprinting past people on hybrids and then slowing down. Going up hills with the heavy bikeshare bike seems significant enough effort to credit towards a workout. Using as a warm up on the way to the pool (a mile for me) works decently too.
I've definitely been logging bikeshare miles for the National Club Championship. Riding that heavy thing is a workout!
I've often taken the Mt Vernon Trail to commute, & sprinted along flat stretches for a farleg-type ride, and maybe alternate big wheel and small wheel gears going up hills. Also good to do one-leg drills for parts of the ride. (And to lobby for showers and bike racks at work.)
