A few of us that are doing IM-CDA plan to head to Sandy Point on Saturday morning for a swim followed by a bike ride with a 50 or 70-mile option. The plan is to get into the water around 8:30 and swim for 40-45 minutes then clip in on the bikes by 9:30am. Hopefully, the water temperature has crept upto at least 58. Post if you plan to join us. -Hugh
If it's not raining, I'll be there.
I'll be there
I'd like to join in. Can you provide details of where to meet up? If easier over email you can reach me at stiefler at gmail dot com. Thanks!
As you drive into Sandy Point, head all the way back and park in the lots on the right. There is a changing facility there with showers, though the hot water wasn't on last weekend. The plan is to swim parallel to shore for 30-40 minutes depending on the water temperature. My car will be the blue Saturn with a bike on top.
Where is Sandy Point?
Is everyone or anyone mtg. before and maybe follow each other in cars?
Sandy Point State Park (MD) is just off the last exit on route 50 before the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, after you have passed Annapolis. There is a fee to get into the park and I think they went up in mid-April to $5 for Md residents and $6 for non-residents.
If interested in carpooling you can post here or email me at racedirector at dctriclub.org
I'll be heading out early (around 7am) from DC if anyone wants to follow me. I don't have a rack on my car so I probably can't pack more than just my bike but I'm happy to caravan or carpool depending on what works best. My email is justinnunez AT gmail DOT com
Thanks everyone for the info., seems like there will be about 5 people showing, others may not be part of the string but still planning to attend, has anyone heard how many may show? Justin, I'll keep that in mind, if nothing else maybe caravan, thanks.
The plan is still to head out and be in the water around 8:30 a.m. We will be swimming on the right side away from the fishing area. It's five dollars per person for MD residents and six for non-residents. Working on a cue sheet for the bike routes.
Awesome training day out there today! It feels like the water temperature is now in the high 50s. Thankfully, the rain held off. I'm wiped out and ready to take a nap.
Great swim and ride yesterday out of Sandy Point. Thanks guys. I was feeling it at the end. Keep me posted for future bricks, good crew.
