Anyone else running this on Sunday? It'll be my first 10-mile race although I've done plenty of longer runs in training. Thus, I'm guaranteed to PR. Nice!

Unless the weather interferes. The current forecast is for thundershowers, 60% chance, especially in the morning.

I'm in. Hoping to best my Army 10 miler time.

Though with the forecast for rain.... this run might just suck.

I am in as long as my cold gets better. Not looking for PRs, just for a fun run with a few thousand friends.

Vol-ing at the first, Fort Hunt water stop, put on by Potomac Runners. If you want something more spirited than water or 'Ade, let me know.

You mean something like vodka? Hmm, maybe that would be nice right before the end, but not at the beginning of the race. How about a magic wand that will make the rain go away that morning?

It looks like there might be a minor delay because of lightning. I'm going to bring an extra Clif bar to eat while I'm sitting around at Mt. Vernon. A disposable/recyclable small water bottle too. We'll probably have at least an hour before the start of the race after getting off of the shuttle buses, longer if there's a weather-related delay.

Begs the question on whether we are all better off standing around Mt. Vernon in the thunder or running down the Parkway?

Hope they put extra toilet paper in the port o johns since we'll all have extra time to use them.

Good luck everyone. See you at the beer tent at the finish. Don't forget your id.

Not that leaving our bikes in the rain for several hours would be a spectacular idea, but does anyone else wish there was a bike valet at the finish line where the bus pick up is? Then, magically, parking is not a big deal.

The current forecast at the Weather Channel website looks a little better:

7 am, 55F, Showers, 60% chance of precipitation
8 am, 56F, Showers, 50% chance of precipitation
9 am, 57F, Showers, 40% chance of precipitation
10 am, 60F, Isolated T-storms, 30% chance of precipitation

It's not until mid-afternoon that the forecast calls for scattered T-storms, 60% chance.

There may also be some thunder earlier on, when everyone is sleeping, er, riding on the shuttle buses from Arlington and Old Town. But it doesn't look like there will be thunder/lightning during the race itself or immediately after. However, the forecast could change tomorrow.

The latest hourly forecast on the Weather Channel website is not promising. Up to 80% chance of rain/thunder soon after the start of the race, and up to 65% chance of rain/thunder and thunderstorms in the 2nd hour, for those of us who will take more than an hour for the race. (That includes me.)

I think I'm going to skip the race. I don't even know if they'll be able to run it at all. It's not a good idea for anyone to be running on the GW Parkway in the middle of a thunderstorm.

HTFU man. It's probably not a good idea to walk in the rain either, but it's still fun! :)

I'll still be out there going for a stroll down GW Parkway with an extra pair of socks on hand.

We got so lucky with the weather! Great race - and good to see so many DCTri'ers today. I think everyone I talked to had a PR. Congrats to everyone who ran!

Great to see so many of you out there. Perfect day for a run. Too bad this cold didn't let me run. Congrats on all the PRs.

The only negative comment about the race was waiting 1.5 hours at the Start. Hmm, the early bird really didn't get the worm. Thankfully the rain stopped 30 minutes before the Start, in time to make it a great run. Next year I think I'll try the Pike's Peak.
