Moving to DC, need Roommate
POSTED: 10/29/13 2:50 AM

So the call came, and I now find myself packing up my things here in the sunny and warm triathlon capital of the US to move back to our nation's capital.

I am a 23 year old VA native looking to find a place to live in DC. To keep expenses low, I would like to find a roommate, or rent a room in a current situation if one is available. Since I am a very tri focused person, it only makes sense to search amongst my peers.

I am employed, working the m-f 8-5 in the chevy chase area, but looking to live in closer towards town on the red line (exact location is flexible.

I am pretty serious about training for triathlons and recently (aka yesterday) qualified for the 70.3 worlds in '14, so I will be even more serious next year! I enjoy all DC sports, hanging out with friends, and other normal person activities. If you have any interest, or know someone maybe looking for someone to help fill their apartment/house please feel free to shoot me an email.

Thanks,

Reid Taylor

Hey Reid! I am actually looking to rent out my room in Arlington, VA. It's a great location in Arlington, VA and right next to the Custis Trail so super easy access to bike paths. (I'm actually moving up the street to take over a friend's lease, but love the neighborhood!) I'm a mile from Washington Lee Pool, which also has the track that DC Tri trains at Wednesday night.

Driving to Chevy Chase is about 30 minutes, though you'd be reverse commuting. I'm an 8 minute walk to either the Courthouse or Clarendon metros, so commuting by train would also be pretty easy (maybe 45 minutes? Which is typical DC).

Landlord is re-doing the garage to put in bike racks, which would be tri friendly. I have an entire space with half bath, two levels and a private patio to myself. It's like having your own little apartment - but you use the shared kitchen and shower upstairs. Utilities and maid service are included in the rent. Roommates are three other guys. Let me know if you're interested!

That does sound like a nice area and situation. If you could send me an email with the details and rent amount, I am actually coming back to do some apartment hunting next Monday Nov. 11th and would be interested in taking a look if possible.

Thanks,

Reid Taylor

Hi Reid - the Craigslist ad with the details can be found at http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/roo/4162641405.html.

It's $1400/month with utilities and maid service included, which I've found to be great. Not having to pay any bills or worry about heat cost in the winter is fantastic and it's a good price for the location. I should be around on the 11th. Feel free to email me at rachel.greenspan@gmail.com to set up details.
