When I raced EM in '08, I was late in looking into hotels, so Easton and Cambridge were all booked up. Ended up in Salisbury, which in retrospect was fine, since it encouraged you to get checked in, then get out of town and away from the craziness. It's a longer drive in the morning than staying closer in, but it gets you up and moving early, so you aren't (quite so) groggy when the gun goes off.
Thanks for the quick info. More questions -- One night or two? right now the Days Inn and Comfort Inn will let you reserve Saturday night only. Or is it best to stay in the area two nights?
After registering, I did a quick search for hotels and kept getting the "no rooms available" response. I was only looking for Saturday night, so this must be the one night issue Bryan mentioned.
I was able to get a 1 night reservation at the Econo Lodge in Easton so grabbed it. My room has 2 beds and I'm happy to split it. Alternatively, if a group wants to get a house I'd be up for that as well.
I booked thru Hotels.com at the Comfort Inn in Cambridge and was able to get a one night reservation, pre-paid but fully refundable by 4 pm the day before ($144, incl tax). I spoke with the cust service rep for Hotels.com who said that she's been getting a lot of calls for the Cambridge area for that weekend and wanted to know what was going on. FYI -- She only had king rooms available. Joyce
Alternatively, you can camp/RV at the high school, about 15 mins from the TA for $30/night. Here's the link:
