We are still looking for volunteers to watch gear for the brick this weekend at Hains Point. Post here if you are willing to watch (or take turns watching so everyone can still work out).
More info on the brick workouts here http://dctriclub.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=Train.Reguarly_Scheduled_Runs_and_Bricks
What time are the bricks starting this year? Same time as last year? 8am?
Yes, they are scheduled to start at 8, but we still need volunteers.
I haven't been able to find a volunteer to watch gear, but I don't think that should stop people from meeting up on Saturday to do a brick (just park nearby and lock your bike in your car). I will be out of town, but post here to see who will be attending.
I'm planning on doing something along the lines of the following.
Rolling out from the golf course gate at 8 am.
Bike - 1 hr 30 mins (22+ mph pace on the intervals)
10 minute warm-up (Z2) (short loop)
2 x 20 minute Z3 effort/ 5 min ez spin (3 long)
1 x 30 minutes, alternate 2 min fast Z3-4/2 min ez spin (2 long)
Run - 20 mins
20 minute moderate run off the bike. Zone 2-3.
No longer planning on the AF ride so I will likely be down there. If I can drag my butt out of bed, I'll probably try to beat the heat and the traffic and start closer to 7...My plan for how long I'll be going will depend on how sick I'm feeling at that point (1 hour? 2 hours perhaps?) but if anyone else on the slower side (On a good day I might avg 16 mph..can probably go a bit faster with someone to push me and being that Hains is so darn flat) is down for a few early miles I'm open to coordinating.
Will likely try to bang out one short loop on foot after riding and locking my bike up!
Anybody out there NOT doing the DC Tri or Tuan's Sunday ride that is going to do a brick at HP Saturday - 8 AM?
We may be relegated to short loops because of the transition setup on the north end of the long loop, but should be a good last brick to prep for Philly.
I plan on being there and we should have some volunteers (two people have contacted me about watching gear). I am all for short loops on the bike.
Cool - see you out there at 8 AM at the HP golf course gate then. Hopefully we get a better turn out than last week - it was just me and one other with a few others I saw riding solo.
I just joined the club, and I'm in for a brick this weekend. I'm also doing Philly, so it will be good to do one more before the race. I'm not as fast as 22+mph, but it will be good to push myself! See you there!
Count me in as well. May not be moving quite as fast as you all, but looking to get one more brick in before Philly! See you out there at 8.
I ll be out there around 7:45 looking forward to have fun
Just moved to area last month and will be there also on sunday, just hope i can find the place without much difficulty. Not used to the hills here since i am from FL, but up for the challenge.
The brick is tomorrow (Saturday) not Sunday. Hains Point it flat as Florida, so you don't need to worry about any hills, just some wind.
We meet at the gate near the entrance to the golf course which is labeled T1/T2 on this map http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF&msa=0&msid=109540102571281983959.00047d8c0af0472cade78
Due to the firework staging that goes on at Hains Point, the brick this weekend will be slightly changed, but I don't think it will prevent us from doing it. See the map here
I will also be there at 8, this is my first brick workout so well see how it goes. Looking forward to it!
In for the brick tomorrow and happy to watch bikes while others run. Also, I will have my car down there if people need to lock things up while riding.
i'll be there at 8 tomorrow. hopefully we can get a good group together
Is the brick still happening tomorrow morning? Wasn't sure with Musselman and Training Tri happening this weekend.
i'll be there again, but i usually just throw my stuff in the car.
