2012 Gran Fondos

Is anyone planning on doing any Gran Fondos next year? I’m thinking about doing NY, Garrett Co, and (maybe) Philly. Has anyone done any of these? I’ve heard good/crazy things about Garrett Co (on the Savageman course) :) but haven’t heard much about NY or Philly.

In for Garrett Co. Did it the first year and it was super fun. Note the multiple routes, bail-out options if you feel like cutting your ride short, and probably cooler weather than Philly. Don't know anything about NY.

I'm in for Gran Fondo NY and will be going back to Garrett County again in 2012. Garrett County was a blast last year. I highly recommed it. For NY I'm signed up for the competitive Fondo. I grew up near the NY Fondo course and I'm doing some of the Fondo sponsored training rides with friends and family on several of the weekends when I'm up there over the winter and spring. A friend on mine did NY last year and said it was really fun and well organized.

Don't forget about our local fondo, Total200

Last years 200k option was a hit for those not interested in putting in the whole 200miles.

Last year the Garrett County Gran Fondo and the Total 200 were the same day, for 2012 they are a week apart. One could conceivably do both.....

Date is coming shortly (usually mid-September), but Jeremiah Bishop's Alpine Loop Gran Fondo is astoundingly tough and fun. Love it, and would especially recommend it to anyone who loves to race up mountains (2 KoM competitions). Aid station food a plus, lots of waffles. A little bit of (hilly) dirt road mixed in too for some variety.

Pam,

I am actually doing both the NYC Grand Fondo and the Total 200. I've heard really good things about the NYC Fondo and I am trying to put together a group to go up there. I'll let you know when i start hearing from some of the people that said they were interested and what our plans are in regards to hotel and getting up there.

Best,

Matt C

I was so looking forward to doing the diabolical double at the Garrett Co one this year but then found out I have to go out of town for a business trip that weekend :( and the NYC one is the same weekend as the Columbia Tri but if the Total 200 is a different weekend then Garrett this year I may try and do that one.

Bike Virginia and Total 200 have always been on the same weekend, but this year they're on consecutive weekends. Yet this year BVA's the same weekend as Garrett Co. Can't have everything every year...

Thanks Matt! I'm still on the fence about NY but def keep me posted.

I signed up for the century at Garrett Co. I'm not sure about Total 200 yet since it's the following week but I'm thinking about the 125 option.

In for the masochistic metric Garrett County Gran Fondo. Have the yurt in the campground reserved, but I am open to sharing a house.

I'd like to get a house for the weekend. I found a few that look good online (~1K for 2 nights, sleeps 10). Let me know if anyone is interested in sharing or has space in something they've already booked or have a property they've used before and liked.
