Ditto on Mt Weather or Skyline in April. I'm going out to the Eagleman course on 4/14 (can take 2+2) but would be game for Skyline or Return to Mount Weather (sounds like a horror movie) on 4/21.
Columbia Brick-Nic on 4/28... Be sure to sign up when it comes out!
thanks, Abby. The bricknic date is on my calendar! My guess is I'll be out there doing 3 or 4 laps (ugh). It's my own fault for signing up for a June IM! :-)
I've got the Parkway classic 10 miler on the 22nd, so the 21st sounds perfect for some serious torture in the saddle! I'm game with whatever... keep me posted and I'll block the date.
(sorry to hijack Bryan's thread)
Adam has convinced me to tag along.....Its been a super long time since I've ridden Mt. Weather, but, like Skyline, the descents make this ride worth it!
An av. of 17-19 sounds good to me!!
see you all sat morning;)
My friend and I are planning to attend; I'm not sure I can keep up, especially with hills, but I'm used to being behind :)
I would be up for riding next weekend, so keep me posted. At this point in the training, I too am just about the 18-19mph mark and haven't ridden with a group in a while. So sticking with some people instead of trailing off by myself would be a good thing. But maybe we can start earlier next weekend? Say 8am insead of 10am?
We can re-post about this next week though. Enjoy the ride this weekend everyone!
So, for those who are riding tomorrow: yes, we're still on. I'm going to make an executive decision here and say that we're going to ride the reverse course (it'll make it seem like a whole new ride to those who have done the standard direction before!). The course is laid out here: Reverse Mt. Weather and if you click on the Cue Sheet tab (sorry, can't link directly to it) you can print out the cue sheet for the reverse course. Or if you're really good at directions and math, you can print out the regular cue sheet and just read it from the bottom up and change the lefts to rights and rights to lefts.
Meet up time is still around 9:45 with clip in time at 10:00. I hope to see a lot of you out there!
And don't worry about speeds, we won't leave anyone lost in the wilderness. We'll wait at the major points, so no one gets lost or left behind.
How do I make your cue sheet American? It's all European with Kilometers and stuff...I need miles :)
On the map page, in the bottom right corner, select Imperial as opposed to Metric. That should convert everything over to miles.
Nm, click on Map then the last box on the right has an option for units, select imperial
Where should I park? Is this a good intersection to plug in for our meeting up point?
W Main St & U.S. 17 Business & Grove Ln & County Road T185, Marshall, Fauquier, Virginia 20115
Back on Frost St. is the VDOT Park and Ride parking lot. That's where we're meeting.
Try: 4158 Frost Street, Marshall, VA or Frost St. and Salem Ave in Marshall, VA.
Got it. Thanks! See everyone tomorrow :)
I'll be there with friend (..still a maybe). Not sure how i'll do on the hills so I've got the map/directions printed out. Thanks for setting this up!
I'm in. See you all tomorrow.
With this big of a group coming, it sounds like I need to bring homemade treats! Come hungry.
If we don't start the ride hungry, we will definitely finish the ride famished. :)
... make sure you include some non-chocolate ones lol
I'm still deciding about tomorrow, I'll do it next week for sure with some other guys, but for now I made it so I can upload the course in my garmin, here it is in case you want it:
If you participated in the National Challenge Competition (NCC) and were part of the winning team I will have the prizes with me. Look for me before the ride begins. Gray Scion XA.
Thanks for organizing Bryan. It was a beautiful day and an awesome group.
Agreed! What an awesome way to start the season. Thanks to Bryan and Adam for being our fearless leaders.
By the way, who made those brownies? They were fantastic!
