Curious what others think about this ... http://www.slowtwitch.com/News/WTC_to_purchase_produce_CTA_events_4214.html
"World Triathlon Corporation (WTC), owners and producers of the Ironman branded events, has signed a letter of intent to purchase all or substantially all events owned by Columbia Triathlon Association. As part of the agreement, all races on the 2014 CTA (TriColumbia) schedule will go forward."
Obviously great news that the races are on as scheduled, but will WTC taking over mean any changes?
I asked our USAT-Mid Atlantic Council officers to invite WTC to come to the annual meeting or otherwise speak to the membership on Saturday and was told they would be offered the opportunity-- I think it would be a phenomenal PR move if they did show up. Im not sure whether they received said invitation or not but I haven't heard anything.
Anyone have more info on this? Here's a Baltimore Sun article from a week ago:
"TriColumbia and its founder and former race director were sued last week by two former employees who claim they were wrongly fired last fall for exposing alleged improper use of association money for the founder's personal expenses, including two houses and a Porsche."
New website for these two races: http://ucfraces.org/
Does anyone know what is happening to the Celebrating Heroes triathlon that is scheduled for late July? If so, where is the website to register?
