(No- I won't be going. I don't qualify for a vacation there let alone the IM)
The IM World Championships are this weekend and we have at least 3 people going:
Anyone else? Let us know so we can follow your race and send you tons of good mojo for the Queen K.
Rock that course. Go DCTRI!!!
Does anyone know what channel it will be aired on, times, or place folks are gathering to watch it?
It will be aired on NBC at 4:00 on December 19th. And DC Tri always organizes a nice event in conjunction with the Annual Meeting. Keep your eye on the forum for details of the location.
Club member Abby Ruscetta will also be racing on the Air Force team!
Good luck to everyone
For those who are looking to watch it ironman website broadcast the all the race live. Usually the broadcast last like 10 to 12 hours ... is a laid back broadcast but they do a great job and occasionally interview a lot of great athletes from the past and present. Totally recommend it. In terms of time the broadcast start around noon and the Male winner should be around 8 or 9.
Universal sports is saying that they will broadcast it but don’t know if it is on tv or on their website
Enjoy your Saturday afternoon
I'm not racing but I'm here in Kona and I'm planning to wear my DC Tri Club T-shirt to cheer you guys on!!
Who will be the King of Kona in 2009?
Chrissie Wellington ran her first Ironman in 2007 and hasn't lost yet. Can the two-time defending world champion make it 3-for-3 in Kona this weekend? Who will lead the men? Matt Dewhurst takes a look at who to watch at the Ironman World Championships, LIVE on UniversalSports.com Oct. 10 at 11 a.m. ET.
Is there a way to track athletes live? Have their splits sent to your phone by text or e-mail? Login into ironmanlive.com is a pain. Especially while doing a Century ride!!
I believe you can follow Macca on twitter: chrisjmacca
Please post Kona splits at DC Tri if you can. I'll check the forum. Thanks and Kia Kaha!
I hope he tweets during the swim.
So far after the swim...
Kelzie Beebe: 1:04:19
Michelle Harburg 1:19:14
Mathias Palavecino 58:25
Abby Ruscetta 1:00:26
They all are posting phenomenal times. Water looked like there were swells. Not much wind on the bike course helps a lot -- maybe some records today... even the slight wind heading up to Hawi is a tail on the way down. Memories..... go Michelle, Mathias, Kelzie, Abby!!!!
