This is a popular midsummer evening race over in Crystal City. Good option for those who aren't racing in the Rocketts Landing Triathlon that same weekend.
It's an evening race, NOT a morning race. The current forecast for race day is a high of 95F. So runners should expect to see hot conditions. But not as hot as last year. That day, the afternoon high was 101F. Race-time temperature was around 96-98F! The fire dept. set up multiple water faucets from a fire hydrant to help people cool down before the start of the race. At least it'll be a little cooler this year. Instead of being able to fry an egg on the pavement, you'll only be able to warm it up.
Online registration is open through the day before the race. Same-day registration is available at the race site.
Pacers is running a high-school competition as part of the race, so expect to see a lot of younger speedsters there. Some of those teenagers are fast! But most of the runners will be adults, fortunately. (I don't want to get blown out of the water by a bunch of sub-17:00 high-schoolers.)
