A few of us were talking about this yesterday. I am definitely in and plan to get in at least 8,000yds.

We used to do a firecracker 5000 on the 4th of July. This sounds fun so I'm more than likely in.
Nice incentive for the end of Swim Month. In gorgeous, Wilson-like, 50-meter facility.
And that masters group provides juice and bagels and such during breaks.
10k+ swimming to finish 2011? I'm in. Probably with leftover Christmas cookies to supplement what will be provided there.
Will there be any problems getting into the pool? Last I checked you needed a current member to sign you in, or is there a different procedure for masters folks?
The pool will only be open that day for this event. Just mention to the front desk that you are doing the swim-athon.
This sounds better than running the Fairfax 4 Miler in the cold and dark at 6p New Years Eve in the hinterlands of Fairfax.
OK- opted for lunch at Stickey Fingers instead with the family. But I plan on swimming everyday this week. Yesterday (3200m) today 3600m - my arms are tired but kicked it up today - what will tomorrow bring?
Do I have to keep count? I always forget what lap I am on.
That does sound better, unless you tri to keep up with Stephanie E, as certain unnamed parties have been known to do...
Yes Maureen, you have to count your own laps. On a sad note is that the university is looking to cut both varsity swim programs after this year. :(
Sent in my money last week. Looking to log in 10,000 that day to finish off swim month, especially since I have been practically invisible.
Hey Everyone - I received the below message about the pool configurations for this event. This will make all of you Wilson 50m peeps pretty happy. Sorry, but I am not in that same boat.
Hey New Year's swimmers,
I have received word from UM that the large pool will be set up as a 50-meter, long-course pool on Saturday. The instructional pool will be 25-yard as usual. Sorry about this - in the past it has always been short-course in both pools. Please adjust your plans/swim times/paces accordingly!
May be in! Will be a last minute decision, but I need to get back in the pool!!!
We need to swim out the old year and beat Kansas River Valley Tri Club!
Here's the link to the "swim in the new year" entry form:
I assume that "$12 for deck entry" means that you are allowed to show up without signing up in advance, right?
In! Last year Hugh made me swim all 10,000 meters, so I guess I had better do that again this year.
Kevin-yeah you can register on site.
I'm driving from Ballston if anyone needs a ride. Could be convinced to leave early a do a trail run pit stop at pierce mill on the way there.
In for 10,000 meters.
[Edit] not really
In. Probably not for the entire 10k. :)
I'm in for 10k, and am bringing several 2k sets for anybody who wants to join me.
Great showing out there today and way to crank out some yardage. I only got in 7,100 until my shoulder told me to stop. Victoria - 10k! Awesome work!
