The most recent MSP email has a link for the HarborFest Swim (National Harbor, Maryland), but I'm only seeing 2013 dates... is there a new link or am I doing something wrong?
I'm seeing an Aug. 3 date on the website: http://www.feelthewater.com/
No info listed yet. You could contact them.
alrighty - who else is in for the new 5k swim this sunday?! 2.4 just didn't seem long enough.
Maybe 3, more likely 2.4, praying for no rain, begging for no lightning.
2014 HarborFest Tri Distance Open Water Swims
RESCHEDULED DUE TO POTENTIAL
COMPROMISING WEATHER. NEW RACE
DATE IS SUNDAY AUGUST 10.
Not exactly sure what "potential compromising weather" they are talking about. Current hourly forecast for the entire morning is less than 10% chance of rain.
Looks like Harbored swims have been rescheduled for 10 Aug based on the weather forecast for the next 36 hrs. If you registered check your email.
I was not in town last weekend, so now I can participate! Registered for the 5k too! Boo on the not-free t-shirts.
Results will be posted by Wednesday 8/13.
Tri Distance Open Water Swims
Hmmm.... They didn't mention what YEAR.
10 days now and counting.
Results were posted here:
Yep, maybe my posting made them finally act -- LOL!
My swim time and place in the posted results (1.2 mile swim) appear to be wildly off what I actually swam (my watch said 34 minutes and change, while the results page lists 41 minutes). Has anyone else noticed a discrepancy in their self-timed and posted results?
Yeah... mine is off by a couple of minutes. I think what happened is that my timers waited until I climbed the ladder and got on the deck to record my time. However, I had actually cooled off in the water for about two minutes before climbing out.
I think that's the discrepancy in some cases...
Now that you mentioned it, I see that my time is off by just over five minutes (2.4 mile swim). And I stopped my watch when I got to the ladder and climbed out.
I guess they shouldn't have rushed posting the results.
Yeah...my time was listed as 5 min faster than my watch. And I'm positive I didn't win the 5 k race. Without timing chips it's all very suspect.
