Kinetic Sprint 2013

Hey all,

Anyone doing the sprint on May 12th at Lake Anna? If so, any recommendations of places to stay? Alternatively, if you've attempted to drive down the morning of, how long did it take?

Thanks!

Christina

Christina,

I am doing the sprint, but am staying with friends. I was down there for Peasant Man this weekend and we stayed at the Lighthouse Inn - http://www.highpointmarina.com/. $109/night I think and it is a 15 min drive from the state park. I-95 was a mess in both directions, so if you are driving down on Sunday, leave PLENTY of time. See you there!

There also the option of camping at Lake Anna. Someone else posted about having a campsite for Sat night. Campsite is less then 5 min walk to the race.

I'm going down on Friday, spectating, laughing and pointing at all the crazy folk on Saturday and racing on Sunday. I'm staying at a friend's place on the lake.

As the only camping equipment I have is a sleeping bag liner and lots of bug spray, I'm probably just going to head down in the morning.

Ali--how cold was the water?

I'm not going to lie... it was cold. But on a positive note, it was warmer than the air temperature. Bring a wetsuit, rent a wetsuit, beg, borrow, and steal to have a wetsuit. Out of the ~200 people who participated at PM, I counted 4 people who didn't have a wetsuit. Mine is sleeveless and I was fine with that, though I did see a lot of full sleeve wetsuits.

Fortunately, unlike my lack of accommodations and camping equipment, a wetsuit is one thing I have invested in. Thanks for the heads up.
