Hey Peasantman-types: if you traveled from DC to Lake Anna last Friday, how long did it take you? I'm trying to figure out roughly how long traffic purgatory will be. thanks.

Took me 1 hr 40 mins from Ballston - put give yourself 2 hours as a margin of error.

I've been there about a dozen times over the years. The return trip has always been, for me, longer than the trip there even on the weekend. It always seems to take 30-45 minutes longer on the way back due to traffic.

The time quote that Maureen gave is for non-rush hour traffic. We had some PeasantMan organizers spending about 4 hours getting there during last Friday's rush hour traffic.

If you can get out ahead of traffic, do that. It's taken people anyone from an hour to like 3 or 4 last year to get down to the Lake Anna exit off I-95. If you're coming back on Saturday afternoon, then you'll be fine. Traffic isn't that bad. It's the northbound Sunday afternoon traffic that sucks.
