In case you missed it, the first Club Training Tri will be Sat April 19th at Gunston Manor.
All details can be found on the events page here.
Seeing as how we got about 5 inches of snow on St. Patty's day today, we thought we'd allow the next 5 lucky people to register for this club race for $5 off!
Just use discount code: StPatty'sDay_Snow??
2014 DC Tri Club Races
Allison, Ashley and Nicole have used the promo code. And I just realized I messed up. I set up $6 off for the next 6 people so next 3 to register get in for $30 vs. $36!
PS We're going to need a good amount of volunteers for this. Thanks to Marina and Mike for stepping up thus far.
REALLY need volunteers for this Sat's Training Tri!!
Please register as a volunteer on webscorer here: http://www.webscorer.com/register?raceid=18356
If you would like to put yourself at a certain location, sign up on the shared google doc. Link located here: https://www.dctriclub.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=Race.Training_Triathlons
Thanks so much. Your help is appreciated!
PS Feel free to use this forum to organize carpooling, questions, etc.
By what time do volunteers need to be there on Sat? I see I'm slotted to help with registration and water.
Hi Jin, thanks for volunteering!
I'd like to have all the volunteers there by 830 and the racers to show anytime after 845. I plan to send an email out to both groups shortly.
I changed the duties around a bit as all the volunteers are going to have to do double duty. At least no one will get bored!
Please look at the updated Volunteer spreadsheet -->> https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1aqf0doN3Vj9oqMN5TPcfl4KzQtemwZVtYexyTAn7lGs/edit#gid=0
Thanks and see you Sat!
PS Could still use some more volunteers.
PPS Registration closes 10pm THIS Thursday.
More info and updates coming this week but just wanted to add that WETSUITS ARE MANDATORY this Sat.
The expected temperature will be about 59 deg F give or take.
It would be a good idea to procure a neoprene cap.
- The forum may be a good a place to see if a fellow member can loan you one.
- Try one of our partner stores.
- Amazon is another option.
We are working on having a short run to replace the swim IF you are not able/willing/hardy enough to swim but no guarantees.
Hmm..what does 59 degree water feel like? I'm itching to swim out in the open water, but I think 62 is the coldest I've been in.
Also, anyone want to lend me their neoprene cap?
I swam in Columbia Tri last year without a wetsuit and I think it was 63 degrees. Though I was probably 1 of 10 people out of 1000 who did that. I felt silly but I wasn't cold.
I do have a wetsuit now, but its sleeveless. that still counts right?
My T1 time is going to be so slow, but I guess that's what Training Tri's are good for!
David and all,
Just got some unfortunate news. The water temperature is currently 53 deg. Due to this and the cold forecast this week, next 3 nights in the mid-high 30's, the swim portion is off. FXCM made this call today. Their USMS insurance may not cover them if something bad were to happen if it's found that due diligence was not exercised. No one wants to see any ambulances at any race let alone a fun Training Tri.
Instead of the swim, we're going to have a 1.3 mile run instead starting from the water exit. All else will be the same.
I/We are very sorry for this but if you want to place any blame, blame mother nature.
We hope everyone still comes out and enjoys the venue and hopefully, nice weather (currently, small chance of rain, high of 68).
For all registrants, we will email out a $10 off code good towards any future club race this year.
Reminder that registration for the now duathlon at Gunston Manor Sat @10am closes at 10pm tonight.
FYI, there will be a chance to feel the water before we start.
Email going out to all registrants tomorrow.
See you Sat.
For anyone who's itching to volunteer but needs a ride, I'll be taking off from the U St area at 7:30 tomorrow.
I haven't received anything from you for our now duathalon for tomorrow. If you haven't emailed, that's fine, but if you have, can you make sure email@example.com is added to the list.
Hey Amanda and everyone else,
I sent out an email to all the volunteers. If you haven't seen it, check your spam and if you still haven't seen it, email Nik at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I plan to send out the details to all the racers in a bit. Been a hellava day. Expect it this early evening in your inbox that you put down when you registered and I'll add the email you gave above Amanda.
Racer instructions sent to all registrants.
It can also be viewed at this link-> http://goo.gl/Qr2qYr
Many thanks to you and all the volunteers who made today happen! I'm an NTPer and I really enjoyed the experience. It was my first training tri (duathalon, whatever you want to call it) ever!
I was wondering: would you mind sharing the e-mail of a DC Tri member named Maryanne with me? She and I had a short discussion in the parking lot on our way out and I wanted to follow up with her about a classified ad on the forum- one that I can't seem to find.
Thanks, and thanks again for everything!
Hi Amanda, I emailed Mary Ann with your info and this post to reply to you. You should hear back from her if she hasn't already done so.
Results from Sat will be up later today. Thanks everyone that volunteered and raced.
Registration for vols and racers is open now HERE.
Are Saturday's race results posted? I couldn't find them and just wanted to make sure I wasn't looking in the wrong place. Thanks!
Results are now posted on the club results page here: https://www.dctriclub.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=Race.Race_Results
Big shout out to the volunteers listed below + Robin M
Please sign up to volunteer (or race) at the next club race May 17th, Training Tri #1, HERE!
If anyone is willing to share, and I hope you are, some pictures from the race, please send them to email@example.com.
Especially those of the group shot.
