What's the best way to ship a bike?
POSTED: 7/17/11 4:03 PM

I'm thinking about doing the 5150 Clearwater triathlon in Florida on November 12. I've been doing some research on the best way to get my bike there, as I've never flown with my bike before or shipped it anywhere.

Southwest Airlines flies from BWI to Tampa and allows you to check a bike in a bike box for no extra charge as long as it's in a box measuring 62 inches total (h, w, l) and weighs no more than 50lbs. Does anyone have any bike box recommendations?

Alternatively, would shipping my bike to FL be easier? Can anyone recommend a company that ships bikes? Or do you ship it using UPS or FedEx?

Thanks in advance for the advice!

check out the below thread for info as well as a DCTri gentlemen who has a collection that he rents out. There are few more thread like that if you search the forum using "bike case" as your query.
