Welcome to the club. I was in the same situation as you last year - no bike and new to tris. I was able to find a sale on a previous year road bike that worked great. You shoudl check all of the local stores including bike rack, capitol hill bikes and spokes and chekc out their sales, closeouts and ask for anything from last year's inventory. You can usually get a deal on it. I thik I got a 1000 bike for maybe 700. If you are not concerned too much about the components, you can probably get a decent bike for 1/2 that!
