Cherry Blossom 10 Miler Registration
POSTED: 11/28/09 8:53 AM

The 38th running of the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run and 5K Run-Walk will be held on April 11, 2010.

After the 2009 Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile run filled its on-line quota of 12,000 runners last year in just 2 hours and 45 minutes, the organizers have decided to institute a lottery system for entry into the 2010 event. Under the new system, entrants will be able to register for the lottery over a 10-day period between 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 and 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, December 10, 2009. Entrants will be electronically selected for the Ten Mile Run and 5K Run-Walk after the lottery registration period closes. The results of the selection process for both events will be posted on the event website, www.cherryblossom.org , by 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 15.

It sucks that they're moving to the lottery system. Not a big fan of it. I think I'll just run the GW Parkway 10 miler instead. :)

as much as i dislike the lottery system, i think its the way of the future for practically ALL RACES that get popular. and in a way its much more fair than say having to sign up the next day after a race on a line up at the race itself, afterall not everyone can afford to fly across the country to sign up for a race.

This is the natural course of things, its not bad at all, afterall "as long as the sport grows and more people are involved nothing bad can happen"
