Just wanted to wish our DC Tri Club amigos (and amiga Tania) the best of luck tomorrow!! I'll be tracking you all while sitting on my lazy butt still eating Thanksgiving leftovers. Kick butt and have fun!! ¡Ándale! ¡Ándale! ¡Arriba! ¡Arriba!
Travis Siehndel #1158
Stephen Carlson #1848
Tatania Grollman #1086
To all hombres de Hierro Cozumel 2009 have fun
and be brave facing the hard winds will be tracking all of them just as they did with me last week really thankful
Buena Suerte
They're out of the water in blazing fast times! I guess that's what actually doing swim training can do for you. I'll consider trying it sometime. ![]()
Steve - 58:53
Travis - 1:00:56
Tania - 1:20:36
Yeah I saw those times and my jaw hit the ground. AWESOME START!!!!
Those guys flew through the swim! And I used to swim with Travis at CUA. Tania is holding her ground too! Will do a race tracker later for updates.
Times are in again.
Travis- TOTAL BIKE 112 mi. (7:17:12) 15.37 mph 382 71
Steve- TOTAL BIKE 112 mi. (5:57:55) 18.78 mph 243 15
Tatania- Has not got in yet, but as tough as she is, I know she is still trucking strong.
Wind were at 14-16 earlier in the ride but have died down to 6, but probably not before taking it's toll on the riders. Since it's an island they were either heading into, getting hit from the side, or going with. There was probably no happy section. I remember from the days I raced on Guam. Keep the good thoughts coming for our DC Triers out there braving some rough elements.
Don't forget Marc Duncan (Bib #61). He's on the run now.
The COZ winds from Thursday have almost completely died down. Also, the heat and humidity aren't too bad today. All in all, I'd say that it makes for pretty good race (and spectating) conditions down here.
Hugh, Cozumel is a mecca for drift diving, which mean that there are currents here that whisk you along at a sometimes downright scary pace. I get the feeling that those swim times are "current aided" to some extent.
Sorry.. here is Mark's Times
Mark Duncan- TOTAL SWIM 2.4 mi. (1:06:12) 1:44/100m 675 124
TOTAL BIKE 112 mi. (6:45:45) 16.56 mph 740 131
As we can tell these are all hardcore on the bike, and from their times, the wind was brutal. Shows their hearts, determination and training.
Awesome Job Thus far All!!!
Ok.. I am on the road for the next 2 hours. Someone keep me up to date.
After 2 run segmetns
Travis have
FIRST RUN SEGMENT 6.25 mi. (59:12) 9:28/mile
SECOND RUN SEGMENT 6.85 mi. (1:08:48) 10:02/mile
aparently he had some issues with the bike because that is to slow of a time for him and times are slow in general but not that slow
The hardest part of the run comes now keep the good spirits for him
Eric

Those guys did awesome! And just to think of it, I used to kick Travis' tail in the pool at CUA. I'm so proud of them.
Still trying to figure out how to watch it on the net. Go Tania!!!
Tatania- At 15:50:21, Tatania came arcoss the finish line. Congratulations Tatania.
Steve..... Travis.... Marc..... and Tatania........ YOU ARE ALL IRONMAN!!!!!!
Tania crossed the line in 15:50! Way to go, Tania!!! Can't wait to see everyone from IM-CZ to hear about it.
Thanks for tracking us throughout the day. The wind was killer on the bike but I will go into details when I have the chance to post a race report/recap. Great job to all the racers today.
After the race my family said, "You're lucky, there was zero wind today!" That might be true on the developed side of the island but for 12 miles on the back side it was flipping BRUTAL!
Congrats to everyone. Steve absolutely crushed it. Marc was battling some sickness and Tania may have broken her toe on Saturday and had to race with a bruised, swollen toe. You all looked great out there!
IMCoz is a great race with an amazing atmosphere. The people of Mexico are very proud of their country and very excited to share it with us. There were some very dedicated spectators out there yesterday.
Congratulations to everyone.. Enjoy your much deserved rest!
