Training Tri -Rain or Shine?
POSTED: 8/21/09 2:09 PM

I was looking at the weather and it says it will start raining tonight until like...Sunday?
Will the training tri still be on, even if it rains?

This is for August 22nd

I was wondering about this too....and what is the lightning policy? I don't know if the pool is outdoors...

Thanks!

I'm not the official word on this, the Race Director would be, but I would say.... races are a go either rain or shine, so be prepared for the training tri to go rain or shine.

The pool is outdoors though, and we do not get final say on whether or not we can swim.

So I'll leave official word to the race director, but be prepared to go.

Thanks Bryan for your input. Haven't been on the 'puter today, been outside for most of it. Here's the deal on the training tri for tomorrow. If we have rain, it will be a tri. If there is thunder, we'll probably have to switch the event to a duathlon (3m/18.6m/3m). If there is lightning, it may look like your five bucks will be considered a donation.

I have coached summer swimming for 14 years and I have never cancelled a morning practice due to t-storms/lightning. We should be good for tomorrow. At least the rain will cool us off a bit.

Thanks to everyone for volunteering! This was my first event of any kind, and it was great, ran smoothly, and everyone I met was friendly and fun.

Great to see everyone yesterday! And a huge thanks goes to all of the volunteers who gave up their time to help out. Events like this would not succeed without you. I'll be working on the results as I watch the Red Sox beat up on the Yankees again. -Hugh

That was me - Jeff (first timer, the only guy wearing a bathing suit rather than tri shorts!). Those were easy, I thought the cupcake/hamburgers were awesome.
