It'd be interesting to see these Sunday bike Nazis take on the hi-speed Saturday bike Commies, who also roll thru Georgetown, or the Tues/Thurs am Hains Pt. bike Fascists. Maybe at a Hains time trial in the fall, maybe with modest fees going to charity.
Tho the federales at Hains would likely pull everyone over for speeding, then cancel the event...
Ed, I seem to remember a fall TT series . . .
This Bike Nazi has no quarrel with the Vietnamese Monarchists...
To WHICH Saturday ride are you referring, by the way? Just curious. :)
I'm in for 40 Sunday.
Me, too, up to 50 miles.
Very nice ride, thanks!
Great out there today, though legs blew out way too soon. Taper time now!
Awesome ride! I am spent and ready for a nap but Ironman Lake Placid is on Universal Sports right now.
Am I the only idiot that turned about .05 miles too soon from s glen on to glen? I wasn't even paying attention to the signs because I was pedaling for my life to try and catch u guys after a late start (due to a flat before I'd even gotten on my bike!), and coincidentally happened to come to two more Ts in the road so I thought I was going the right way till I realized I was on falls rd and then a mile lAter was back to the start of south glen...at which point I enjoyed the scenery and gave up on finding u all! Got in a nice brick either way and liked the parts of the route I took as well as the parts I got lost on (three times)...
Apologies for trying to keep the pace faster than the preferred speed of His Majesty's sedan chair, but when it's that nice out and traffic is light, it's hard not to keep things movin'. Excellent ride everyone!
Sorry that you not able to link up with us.
That section of road is a little confusing Hillary.
Hillary- Just think of it as a new route that no one else wanted to do today.
Tuan- Sorry dude, had to drop off the pack. I looked back and noticed after that section of hills, that the people that were riding with me, were not in sight. So I hung out at the light, and waited. We had a good ride home, and kept the pace strong. I like going the way, I have never gone that way before. Made for a more interesting ride.
Great ride today everyone. Can't ask for better weather ... nothing like riding back to base on recovery mode at 22-23 mph.
Hillary ... last year there were also a few idiots who took the route that you did and went almost 100 miles instead of 70. Vietnamese Royalty may or may not have been part of that pack :)
FYI: Sunday's ride - 60-mile Travilah route - will start at 7:30 AM.
I'm in...is it still Wisconsin and M at 07:30...?
yes. this time it's a 70 mile route.
By Sunday Bike Ride with the Vertical Swimmer standards, the ride yesterday was remarkable for its lack of drama: we did not meet Tuan's betrothed (aka "Tiny"), nor did we get stuck in bridge traffic to Hanoi, and - lastly - "The Man" must have been at ATM rather than screwing with our road signs. Sigh.
I am now in full-blown taper mode for MCM with nothing more strenous than meditation and visualization drills until Sunday morning. Serenity now...
Brisk ride on gorgeous day.
One rider, Carol C., went back for a second loop of the 60-mile ride. After doing two loops of EagleMan course last week. And after doing two loops of SavageMan course during S-Man training weekend. (She is apparently training for a Triple IM at Lake Anna....)
