Luray Double

Has anyone done the Luray Double? Is it worth it? Should I do it? Also has anyone tried camping at Lake Arrowhead Park, the race site? It says they block off an area and no reservation required but I am wondering if it is crazy crowded? If you've done this race before let me know what you think. Thanks!

I did this last year & had a blast!! It's a fun course - the bike is a lollipop course with a tough hill on the "stick" at the end. I'm not one for camping, so I stayed at a motel in town.

I have camped there, it's not too crowded but Team Z comes out in force and usually camps at the Boy Scout camp...there are showers, real bathrooms and lots of shade.

The course is fun, rolling and very well supported. It’s a lake swim with post race food provided by the Shenandoah Volunteer Fire Department.

You get a special engraved goblet for doing the double regardless if you "place" or not. I think there are more than 100 people doing the double this year. My husband has done both races 2 years now and he has a blast.

If you're going out to spectate, we're still looking for a few good volunteers for the transition area, swim course, and finish line.

Feel free to be in touch if you're interested in volunteering. Cory@luraytriathlon.com
