According to the Washington Post, a pair of bike lanes will be added to the middle of Pennyslvania Ave., between the White House and the Capitol. Jim Sebastian, bike coordinator for DDOT says that the lanes could be set up within a month, in time for the summer.
The road may not be long enough for serious tri training but where else are you going to get views like you will on that road? I ride there occasionally. It's OK at non-rush hour times, but a bike lane would be more convenient. This is good news for bike commuters and anyone who wants to ride downtown from time to time.
