If interested - Still room on 10/1 - Giant Acorn International at Lake Anna.
There is also a Sprint on Sun 10/2.
I'm signed up.
Is this rationally doable to drive down in the AM and not stay overnight?
Definitely doable. I did Rumpass earlier this year, same spot, same start time. I left DC about 7am and made it before 9. I rushed a bit after that to make the start though, so I'd probably leave a little earlier next time.
I did Giant Acorn last year....it's a solid 1:45 drive from Arlington. For me, a comfortable leaving time was around 6:30am. That'll get you there in time to check in, get situated, and hit the water to warm up.
agreed--very drivable the morning of. There's also the Big Lick olympic Sept. 24th in Huddleston, VA. it's ~4.5 hr drive from DC, and registration is still open.
Hey! I am bummed about the swim so looking for other places where I can break in my new wetsuit. I am thinking of signing up for this one -Olympic distance - anyone interested in driving there together either Friday night or Saturday early morning?
PS I'm good with leaving any time after the tri.
We just secured a $10 discount for DC Tri Club members registering for Giant Acorn... use code "VTSClub11" when checking out!
Sorry, I'm sure some of you have already registered, but it's the best we can do :)
I signed up (thanks for the discount Kevin!).
Just an interesting tidbit on the website: "(*Note - The power plant is currently off due to the earthquake - expected water temperature is around 70F)"
Now of course, I have to actually start swimming again.
Anyone want to carpool?
Holli--yes of course! email me: abby.sanford19 at yahoo.com
