So of course I waited until the very last minute and tried to sign up for the Philly Triathlon and the Oly distance is now sold out! Anyone doing other races about the same size as this one, at the end of June/July that you'd recommend? (And that are not filled up yet)
There will be the inaugural Washington DC Triathlon in June. I think it's June 20. It hasn't been formally announced yet but the organizers of the Nation's Triathlon made a verbal announcement at the postponed DC Tri Club holiday party this month. They will have both sprint and Olympic races. Registration opens on Feb. 1, or so we were told.
Rocketts Landing Richmond was very popular, and hot, last year:
Diamond in the Rough, sometimes the site of the Mid-Atlantic club title, is also often well attended:
I'm going to give two thumbs up to the Colonial Beach Triathlon held the second weekend in July. You can get up early and drive down race morning to pick up your packet. Maybe 230-250 people compete. I've done it four times.
There's also a great little race in Charlottesville on July 25th. The run is all on trails (most challenging leg), rolling bike course, and clean/warm lake swim. beautiful course in all, and I'm always looking for a reason to get down to Charlottesville!
Anyone still hoping to get into Philly, the wait list sign-up just went live.
Registration for the 2010 Olympic Distance Race is now closed. If you would like to add your name to the Olympic Distance Race wait list, please CLICK HERE. We will take a first look at available slots in mid-March, and will notify you if there is availability.
