The 2013 Nation's Triathlon is just around the corner (just over 4 weeks away): Sunday, September 8th. We have almost 400 active or recently active club members already signed up to race in our nation's capital and they can use your support (and so could those 3000 other racers).
There are many opportunities to volunteer over the entire race weekend from the expo to positions over the course of the day during the event. This particular thread is about the club's aid station that will be on the run course (exact location forthcoming).
We would like to get 15-20 people together to help out on the run course during the race. The aid station will be responsible for handing out water and Gatorade and any other materials they give us (possibly cold sponges/cloths, nutrition packs and/or ice). It is a great way to see the racers, to give back to the sport which you know and love, and to hang out with some really cool fellow club members (like me, of course!). In addition, you will get a really cool volunteer shirt as well as all the free water and Gatorade that you could possibly want.
If you would like to help us out at the aid station, please post here or send me an email. I might need you to fill out a specific form for Nation's Tri itself at a later date, but for now, posting here or emailing me will suffice. I will send out an email with more specific instructions at a later date once I get more details about times and locations.
And different from previous years, I am going to need a Co-Captain to help me out. I will still do most of the logistics and organization, but as I am racing that day (my first time ever racing Nation's, go figure), I will not be around the aid station for the few hours that I'm out on the course. So I will just need some help getting people organized at the aid station in preparation for the racers. If you can help me out and be a Co-Captain, please let me know.
Thank you in advance!
And if you have spare time on Friday or Saturday, the race organizers could really use your help at packet pickup. So please volunteer and help out where you can. Even if you are racing, you can still help out.
... and we thank you for your support.
I can help out at the water station. Sign me up.

count me in also.
Count me in :)
is anyone going to give me a free hug as I come through??
As always, big thanks to Bryan for organizing and to all of the great volunteers!
This year you'll be getting a hat or visor from Nation's and we'll be feeding you while you are out there. More details on exact times will be shared about a week before the event.
If you are in a late wave or going really slow, I might be back to the aid station in time to give you a free hug.
Or maybe I'll be waiting for your slow arse at the finish line to give you that free hug! HA!
I'd like to volunteer!
Thank you to everyone for volunteering!
So many of you have stepped up and I really appreciate it. I am right within the window of the number of volunteers I need, but if anyone else wants to help out, please let me know! I will not turn away extra volunteers.
I'm also available to volunteer. You can put me in charge of the hugs and I'll make sure Trevor gets his.
Count me in.
I'm in for water stopping. (Mostly for back-cracking hugs from Trevor. And to showcase my smooth dance moves.)
Heart you, ladies!!
Unfortunately I can't help that day because otherwise I would do it just for the Trevor hugs....He really oughta be charging for those.
[How's that Trev?? :-) ]
Folks, I'll be racing that day. How can I get a club's uniform? Other wise I won't get a hug :(
Head on over to the club store and buy whatever gear you want!
Can you use another volunteer?
What are the details? Count me in plus one :)
Got y'all on my list. No details yet. Just plan on being there early on race day. Will email you with details once I have them.
Thank you for volunteering
Duties include handing out water and offering free hugs to Trevor
