I have a question as an NTPer:
As a Triathlete am I benefiting from using the elliptical or would I be better off with another exercise to get the highest and best use of my afternoons?
So far my training schedule has consisted of switching off running and using the elliptical in the afternoons. So If I run Monday afternoon, I'll jump on the elliptical on Tuesday afternoon. The evening is where I pick up either a swim or a bike.
Thanks,
Chris
Chris -- I do most of my running training on the elliptical because I have bad knees, and so far my strategy has worked. I save my knees for once- or twice-monthly outdoor runs and races, and they've held up thus far.
As an aside, I much prefer the elliptical-stair climber combo at my gym (WSC). It's a relatively new piece of equipment, and I think it's both more difficult than a regular elliptical and a better simulation of running form.
Kris
The elliptical is also excellent for building muscle strength as well as aerobic capacity, kind of a weight training replacement for off days.
