Saw from the Volunteer page that there's a Training Tri on July 1, but haven't seen it posted anywhere else. Anyone know if this is moving forward?

We are working on securing a new location for our club's training triathlons for July and all future club training races. A new date has not been set yet for the July race however as soon as we determine a new date and location, it will be communicated.

Why the new venue? NPS hassles? DC Haines Point Pool issue?

DPR will no longer issue a pool permits for use of the pool at East Potomac Park. That coupled with all of the NPS hassle and the fact that we have outgrown that venue means it was time to find something new. We are working hard at finding a new location however as of today do not have anything firmed up yet. We are working leads on locations in DC, Maryland as well as Virginia. We'll keep everyone updated as progress continues.

We continue to work to identify a new location for Club Training Tris. We are aiming to secure a location to be able to hold a Club Race Aug 11 or 12, but this remains a work a progess.

In the meantime, there are two events this weekend to consider as preparation for race conditions and your goal race:

July 29: HarborFest open water swims. These are training swims under race-like conditions at National Harbor. Click on DC Tri logo for discounted registration: http://harborfestswim.com/

July 29: Fairland Aquatic Center Sprint Triathlon. This a Maryland Triathlon Series event (which means a DC Tri member discount). It's a small race with a pool swim and designed for for beginners. Just a FYI - the Fairland Aquatic Center Sprint Triathlon has now been changed to a swim & run only event. Prince George's County didn't approve the bike course.
