I'm thinking about doing the Potomac Swim (7.5 miles) next year (6/4/11) and was wondering if anyone has done it, knows someone who has done and can share any thoughts about the swim with me.
I believe Paul Contino tried that swim about five years ago.
Ed, I think he tried it back in 2007. Tammy, that event looks pretty cool. 7.5 miles of swimming almost ranks up there with doing a marathon.
I did it with Paul Contino a few years back. It's a fun, laid-back event. Very homespun. And a hell of a long swim.
Happy to answer any questions.

What are the water conditions like - currents, pollution levels, temperature, etc? Is the event well organized and supported? Any thoughts on training, who's qualified/should (or should not) do the swim? I enjoyed the Bay Swim and after I get this Ironman thing out of my system, I may focus on long distance swimming exclusively.
