Race fundraising
POSTED: 8/27/09 1:24 PM

I have a friend whose brother was recently paralyzed in a accident. He doesn't have health insurance, so a website has been set up to raise funds for his treatment and to help his wife/family:
http://www.chriswillwalk.com/

So, since I have some races coming up, I would like to set up a site to raise funds for this cause. Has anyone had experience setting something like this up? I haven't seen much outside of the site offered through Active.com (http://www.activeendurance.com/features.htm), but I'm not sure how much it costs or if there's a free or inexpensive alternative.

Any insight/advice on this would be much appreciated.

Thanks!
Ginger

A bunch of us use firstgiving.com. You need to have a designated non-profit, however. The money goes straight to the organization you choose.

Paypal also has a fundraising function where you collect the money through your own account.

Good luck!
