Anyone have a (gently-used) bike trainer you'd like to sell? I'm planning to put quite a few miles on it this winter, but all the really good trainers (brand new) are out of my price range :(

Hi Hina :)

What's your price range?

Amazon sells a GREAT Trainer (Kurt Kinetic) for $329 (new) -

http://www.amazon.com/Kinetic-Kurt-Machine-Bicycle-Trainer/dp/B000BNCA0Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1324495037&sr=8-1

...and a quick look on eBay and you can get it for $240 (used):

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Kurt-Kinetic-Road-Machine-bicycle-trainer-USED-/150696257231?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item23163266cf

-----
The best part about these trainers are that they have a lifetime warranty, so buying a used one shouldn't be a big deal.

Let me know what you decide.

My price range goes from FREE to CHEAP. I'll probably end up going down the street to Freshbikes, since they're selling the Kinetic for $280 until the end of the month. So once shipping and the cost of a riser block are factored in, the Ebay option won't be any cheaper.

I was just hoping someone here might have a trainer they don't use because they've upgraded to rollers, or something.

But thanks for the info!

I just happen to have an extra 'gently used' bike trainer. I just upgraded to a Computrainer and would be willing to sell my previous trainer. It's a Blackburn TrakStand Fluid trainer (same design as is for sale on eBay at http://www.ebay.com/itm/Blackburn-TrakStand-Fluid-Cycle-Trainer-Bike-Bicycle-Trainer-/270878039500?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f1196ddcc#ht_6697wt_1243). I'd be willing to part with it for $50. If that works for you contact me at jeff_crowder_dc at yahoo dot com.

I am also looking for a trainer, with kind of the same hopeful price ranges mentioned above. If someone's got one to sell, let me know!

Hey guys! I've seen some on nashbar.com for sub-$200. Maybe check them out?

Just my two (franken)cents.

Happy holidays.
Trevor

I have a 1up aluminum trainer which has less than 200 miles on it. I use it to bring to bike races to warm up, it is very light and portable. Check out the website to see if it is something you would want. I think it is a great trainer. It is in mint condition, no pressure since I don't mind keeping it, but I am saving for a new frame and could use the money. Let me know if you want to test it out, I'm up by Glenn Echo Park near Bethesda, MD. Price would be around $130. Feel free to email me mr_kapi@hotmail.com.

Me too. I heard from a friend that Kurt Kinetics are the best- but is it better to buy a used one that's a "better" trainer, or a new one of slightly lesser quality?

I'd be more inclined to go for a used trainer of higher quality, especially if you intend to use it more than just occasionally. And personally, I think it's just better not to contribute to the demand for new stuff. But yeah, Kurt Kinetic seems to be the best of the best (out of my price range!).

I have a trainer that works fine but it is really noisy. I want to use it before my kids get up in the morning and I think it is too loud. I would be willing to part with it for like $60. But like I said, it's loud.
