Congratulations to everyone who went down to SC and kicked butt! This is a great showing for us--especially as it's really the first time we've made a play for the title.
DCTri National Champions 2011 sounds pretty good...
I made a spreadsheet of results comparing DC Tri and Columbia Multisport Club (CMC) since they were our only real competition in Division 1. I might have missed some people, especially the ones that signed up last minute but it is pretty close. You'll see that they got us in the Sprint. The Halfmax was very competitive and didn't get either team very many points. And they didn't even have that many more people than us, they just had more in the sprint. Let me know if you want a copy but here is a summary of results:
DC Tri CMC
# Racers/Points #Racers/Points
Sprint 10/75 34/235
Quartermax 38/184 25/132
Bike 3/33 5/54
Halfmax 25/55 17/34
Total 75/347 81/454
And to clarify a couple comments made above: CMC came in 2nd last year and DC Tri came in 3rd. And only 2 CMC participants are from a state other than Missouri so it doesn't look like they were recruiting this year. They were just more knowledgeable and experienced about which categories score more points.
Congrats to everyone that raced and gave it their all. And I hope everyone had as much fun as I did in Myrtle Beach.
Steve - nice interview.
I like how the reporter refers to it as a triathlon turned biathlon. Apparently we forgot our cross-country skis and rifles at home!
