New to the forum and the club. Can anyone tell me when signups for NTP will take place or if I've missed them. thx
Registration for the 2010 NTP will open shortly after the information meeting to be held in January (time and place TBD). We are still finalizing details, so keep checking the website for the latest information. I am sure that we will make an announcement on the homepage after we have confirmed everything.
I was hoping to volunteer with the next NTP class since I had such a great experience last year. Do you need any more help?
Me too, I'd love to volunteer anyway I can!
If there's one thing we will never run out of, it's our need for volunteers. :-D Keep an eye on the site and the weekly emails for more information on volunteering, mentoring, etc.
I can do an OWS clinic or two.
I can do what I normally do when they come out to volunteer at Eagleman ;)
Just for that, all new NTP-ers will be issued disposable gloves at orientation!
I'd like to again dispense swimming, biking advice, et al.
Just a reminder for any potential NTPers lurking around the forum...
Our informational meeting will be held on Saturday at 10:00am in the West End Branch Library.
Online registration will open on Jan. 27 and generally goes FAST. Program begins on Feb 1.
Hope to see you Saturday!
If past experience is any guide, the room at West End Library will get very warm when we fill it with people, so please dress accordingly.
Is that a request for people to dress in skimpy clothing? :)
To clear up Will's statement, I think that what he meant to say is that if it doesn't have either a Speedo or TYR stamp somewhere near the crotch, you're wearing too much clothing.
LOL Nah, just not wanting folks to overheat.
What if it says Sugoi? Is that cool also? I just want to be part of the cool guys club.
Mark, you can only come if yours say Fredericks or VS.
I wasn't able to make the informational meeting. Any place I can read up on the NTP online, or will it come up when registration is available on the main page?
Well, I found most of the info I was seeking :)
What is the major difference between just joining the club and participating in group training, versus doing the NTP program? Sounds like they are closely tied.
Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and they should be able to send you the handout and answer any questions that aren't in the link mentioned or the FAQ.
The major differences between just joining the club and participating versus the NTP program are 1) the NTP program is a guided training schedule. For the 20 week program, you will have daily workouts that you are to complete (it's flexible). If you just join the club, you will have to create your own schedule and choose the group training workouts that you think are applicable to you. 2) the NTP program provides you the option of having a mentor who will be available to you for directly asking questions and seeking help. They're not a coach, but can provide pointers and suggestions if you're running into issues. 3) the NTP program gives you access to clinics (for NTP members only) that will help you complete your first triathlon. There will be a bike buying, gear, nutrition, stride, and transition clinics. You will also be able to attend NTP only swim clinics where a masters swimming coach will provide stroke analysis as well as drill and workout pointers to help the weaker swimmers.
Those are the major differences I can think of off the top of my head. :)
did the informational session provide info on when sign-up for NTP would begin?
